Kimberlina McKinney

Founder & Managing Partner

Kimberlina serves as outside counsel to major TV + film clients and advises new technology start-ups on corporate and business matters.  She is an adjunct professor of business law at California State University, Northridge and lectures regularly on entertainment industry panels and develops CLE workshops for UCLA and Southwestern Law Schools.

Before establishing KL&C Partners, Kimberlina litigated high-stakes publicity and IP litigation for A-List celebrities, such as Sandra Bullock, Tyra Banks, Halle Berry, Liam Neeson, Jude Law, Hulk Hogan, Media Services and performed clearance work for World of Wonder Productions. Earlier in her career, Kimberlina worked for the California State Assembly and the California Public Utilities Commission, drafting legislation and enforcing complex administrative law.

She was also selected as part of a national team of a national team of analysts to conduct independent audits of financial institutions, such as Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Citigroup, relating to the 2008 sub-prime mortgage crisis.

Ms. McKinney currently serves on the executive committee for the New Leadership Counsel of Bet Tzedek, one of the largest and most impactful non-profit legal services agencies in the United States.

Kimberlina received her law degree from UCLA School of Law and her B.A. from the Claremont Colleges.  In addition to English, Kimberlina speaks Spanish and French, and studied at The Graduate Institute in Geneva, Switzerland and the Universidad de San Francisco in Quito, Ecuador.

Jacqueline Priel

Jackie has an extensive music, entertainment and new media law practice. She boasts of over 13+ years of experience within legal and business affairs departments at Sony, Universal, and several other Fortune 500 companies in music, television, and film. Jackie is also the co-founder of a women-owned music label, one of the only of its kind to develop and broker deals for emerging artists.

As an entertainment industry consultant, Jackie has drafted and negotiated innumerous contracts, such as management, producer, talent, artist, demo, sample, songwriter, joint ventures, distribution, marketing, partnership, technology, publishing, releases, rights acquisition, development deals, profit share, and production agreements.

She advises clients on digital marketing, film and TV licensing/music placements, promotion, financing, reality television pitching, talent agreements, copyright, trademark, management, legal liability, corporate formation, and risk assessment. Her practice also includes drafting business plans and corporate formation documentation.

Ms. Priel graduated from Southwestern Law School in 2004 with a specialization in Arts, Entertainment and Media Management.

Nadia Davari

Nadia boasts of over 14 years of experience as a top entertainment and corporate attorney in Los Angeles. She has served as the outside counsel and VP of legal and business affairs for several media companies and start-ups, including MavTV, Channel Factory, Prescience, and Lightning Entertainment. Nadia was involved in the sale of a major animation studio to Starz Entertainment, is a guest lecturer at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, and has moderated panels on independent film distribution at USC Institute on Entertainment Law and Business.

Nadia is well-known for her superior negotiating and drafting skills in international TV and film distribution, development, production legal, licensing, and acquisition of entertainment content in animated, scripted + unscripted television, and motion picture content.

Ms. Davari has represented Durango Film Festival, Albuquerque Film Festival, AMFM Festival, Geekie Awards, ScareLA, WR Films Entertainment, Je’Caryous Johnson Entertainment, Konwiser Brothers, Entertainment Treasures, Film Roman, and Starz Entertainment, to name a few. She also restructured international content licensing deals for MavTV cable network and guided The Channel Factory and Planet Street through the process of establishing new media entities. She has also represented start-up companies such as myLABBox and Apex Studios. At Taurus Entertainment and Dream Factory she managed all aspects of “production legal.”

At GPX Studios, Nadia negotiated and drafted scripted and unscripted television production, animation series, documentary and feature film, acquisition and financing agreements. Also, while at GPX Studios, she helped management launch GPX Releasing and negotiated domestic and international distribution agreements with content providers and sub-distributors.

Nadia graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in molecular, cell and developmental biology and attended USC Law School where she participated in the Hale Moot Court Honors program.
